chawans is an online store specializing in handcrafted Jian Zhan (Tenmoku) tea bowls made using traditional Chinese ceramic techniques.

Our products are sourced directly from skilled artisans in Jianyang, Fujian Province, China, where Jian Zhan craftsmanship has a long historical tradition dating back to the Song Dynasty.

Each tea bowl is individually handcrafted using iron-rich clay and natural glaze, and fired at high temperatures above 1300°C. Due to the nature of the firing process, every piece has unique glaze patterns and variations.

We work closely with independent ceramic workshops to curate authentic Jian Zhan teaware for global customers who appreciate traditional craftsmanship and tea culture.
